Project Background
This project involved the customization of a hinged door glass for a Canadian architectural design company. The client’s requirements were very high; not only did they expect the glass to have specific functional properties, but they also wanted it to seamlessly match the overall architectural style. To meet these needs, we provided the client with 13.5mm ultra-clear tempered laminated smart glass, combined with custom processing techniques, to fulfill their unique design requirements.
Client Requirements
Through in-depth communication with the client, we gained a clear understanding of their needs and developed a detailed solution. The client’s primary requirements focused on the following aspects:
- Functional Requirements: The client needed glass that could intelligently adjust, switching between transparent and opaque states to ensure privacy and balance light, meeting the demands of different spaces.
- Design Requirements: The client wanted the glass to appear simple and modern, with a requirement to have their own logo silk-screened onto the glass surface.
- Customization Process: Due to the unique design of the hinged door, the client requested perforations, silk-screened logos, tempering, and right-angle edging to ensure that every detail met the highest standards.
- Transportation Requirements: Due to the heavy and fragile nature of the glass, the client requested that we ensure its safety during transportation and meet the requirements for on-time delivery.

Project Challenges
During the execution of the project, we encountered several challenges, mainly in the following areas:
- Process Complexity: Due to the hardness and unique performance requirements of the 13.5mm ultra-clear tempered laminated smart glass, processes such as perforating and silk-screening the logo required extremely high precision. We had to overcome the glass’s fragility and brittleness during processing, ensuring that each hole, logo, and edge polishing met the client’s standards.
- Specialty of Glass Transportation: Glass is very fragile during transport, and we needed to ensure it would arrive safely. The thickness and weight of the glass made traditional packaging solutions insufficient. We had to design additional protective measures for the glass to prevent damage during transit.

Our Solution
To meet the client’s needs and address the challenges of the project, we provided a tailor-made solution:
- Glass Selection and Custom Processing: We supplied the 13.5mm ultra-clear tempered laminated smart glass, which features intelligent dimming capability, allowing it to switch between transparent and opaque states to ensure privacy and light balance. This is particularly suitable for high-functionality applications such as hinged doors.
- Fine Customization and Processing Techniques:
- Perforation and Silk-Screening: We used CNC drilling technology to ensure the precise positioning of each hole. For silk-screening the logo, we employed high-quality heat-resistant ink to ensure that the logo was clear, durable, and resistant to environmental factors.
- Tempering and Edge Polishing: We strictly controlled the temperature and processing flow for the glass tempering and polishing. This ensured that each piece of glass remained free of cracks after high-temperature tempering. Additionally, we performed right-angle edge polishing to eliminate sharp edges, thus enhancing safety.
- Efficient Packaging and Transportation:
- Secure and Reinforced Packaging: The glass was carefully packed in specially reinforced wooden crates to effectively prevent collisions and vibrations during transport, ensuring the glass remains intact.
- Combination of Air Freight and Courier Services: In line with the client’s requirements, we opted for air freight to ensure the glass was delivered on time. For accessories (such as glass glue), due to air freight restrictions, we used courier services for separate transportation, ensuring a complete solution.
- Strict Quality Control and Communication: We maintained close communication with the client at every stage of the project, ensuring that each detail met their expectations. The sales manager regularly updated the client on the progress, and timely feedback was provided during the processing to ensure that the final delivered glass fully aligned with the client’s expectations.

Conclusion
Through meticulous custom processing and strict quality control, the 13.5mm ultra-clear tempered laminated smart glass was successfully applied to hinged doors, fully meeting the client’s functional, design, and customization requirements. The client highly praised our solution, particularly for the precision of the glass processing and the reliability of the transportation arrangements.
This project not only demonstrated our professional expertise in the field of smart glass but also proved our ability to provide efficient, tailored solutions based on the specific needs of our clients. We will continue to uphold the principle of quality first and remain committed to providing innovative and high-quality products to our customers.
