In the construction industry, float glass is a commonly used basic raw material in architectural and deep processing fields. After customized processing, it is often used in building exterior walls, curtain walls, doors and windows, and interior partition applications.
In this project, a client from Germany, during the progress of their construction project, approached VSOM GLASS requesting bulk customized supply of 10mm clear float glass. We completed production according to the construction drawings provided by the client, and coordinated the overall production and packaging arrangement to ensure smooth batch manufacturing and delivery, as follows.
Customer Requirements
In this project, the client’s requirements mainly focused on installation adaptability and batch supply consistency.
All glass panels were required to be precisely cut according to engineering drawings to ensure accurate matching with building structure requirements during the client’s subsequent processing and installation stages.
At the same time, all products were uniformly processed with right-angle edge grinding to ensure consistent edge condition and meet handling and installation requirements.
As this was a bulk supply, the client required consistency of all glass panels to avoid any dimensional or processing differences affecting on-site construction progress.
In addition, the products were shipped to Germany by sea freight, so requirements for packaging shock resistance and protection performance were also raised.
Key Challenges
The main difficulty of this project was the control of processing consistency under bulk customization conditions.
Float GlassSince all glass panels were custom-sized products, even minor cutting deviations could accumulate during on-site installation, affecting overall fitting accuracy.
At the same time, if processing standards were not unified during bulk production, differences between glass panels could occur, affecting project progress and construction quality.
In addition, due to the long sea freight cycle, packaging stability and protection performance were particularly important to prevent damage or surface scratching during transportation.
Customized Solutions
To ensure all requirements were met, VSOM GLASS carried out overall coordination and optimization in processing, quality control, and packaging for the 10mm clear float glass:
- Processing Control
All glass panels were strictly cut according to the drawings provided by the client, and each piece was precisely controlled to ensure compliance with the drawings. A unified right-angle edge grinding process was applied to ensure consistency in dimensions and edge processing. - Quality Control
During production, a staged inspection method was used for continuous comparison and sampling management of different production batches, adjusting and controlling processing deviations in time to ensure consistent bulk output. - Packaging Solution
Based on sea freight characteristics, a hollow wooden crate structure was used for packaging design, and isolation protection materials were added between glass panels to reduce vibration and friction during transportation.
Project Delivery
After production and packaging were completed, the batch of 10mm clear float glass was shipped to Germany by sea and arrived at the client’s project site as scheduled.
According to client feedback, all glass dimensions and processing quality met the drawing and order requirements and could proceed to subsequent processing and installation stages. The overall delivery met expectations.
Conclusion
This project covered customized processing, bulk production, and packaging and transportation, with strict control of dimensional accuracy and processing consistency at each stage to ensure suitability for construction applications.
