In modern commercial space design, glass partitions are widely used in high-end retail stores due to their transparency and stylish appearance. VSOM GLASS was honored to participate in the Dubai lululemon store partition project, providing a customized ultra-clear tempered glass solution that includes both ultra-clear flat tempered glass and ultra-clear curved tempered glass structures to meet the client’s demand for extra-large glass sizes, successfully addressing multiple challenges in production and transportation.
Project Requirements
Dubai lululemon, as an internationally renowned sportswear brand, emphasizes openness and modernity in its store design. The contractor team for the client set very high standards for the partition materials, requiring not only ultimate transparency but also structural strength and safety in use. In particular, strict requirements were set on glass thickness, dimensions, and overall installation coordination.
The glass used in this project was 15mm ultra-clear tempered glass, clearly divided into two categories: ultra-clear flat tempered glass and ultra-clear curved tempered glass. The glass length exceeded 6050mm, and all products were custom-made in extra-large sizes. Among them, the curvature and size combination of the curved tempered glass further increased the technical challenges in processing and tempering control, placing higher demands on production and logistics.
Technical Challenges
- Difficulty in processing extra-large glass
The project involved multiple pieces of extra-long flat and curved tempered glass. Especially for the extra-large curved tempered glass, higher requirements were placed on curvature control, uniform heating, and cooling speed during forming. Even slight deviations could cause warping, deformation, or installation failure, significantly increasing technical risks. - Transport safety assurance
Large-size glass is highly susceptible to damage from vibration and improper handling during transportation, particularly curved tempered glass, which has a more sensitive structure. Therefore, customized packaging solutions and specialized handling procedures were necessary to ensure safety and stability throughout the transport process.
Solutions
To address the above challenges, VSOM GLASS implemented multiple targeted measures:
- Optimized processing technology
For the extra-large glass required in this project, including both flat and curved tempered glass, VSOM GLASS adopted refined processing and tempering techniques. During production, we precisely controlled the glass dimensions and curvature to ensure every piece met installation and appearance requirements. For curved glass, multiple rounds of process testing were conducted to guarantee smooth curve transitions and structural stability even under extra-large size conditions. During tempering, precise control of heating and cooling effectively reduced stress concentrations caused by large sizes and complex shapes. Through overall process optimization, the glass achieved the project’s strict requirements for strength, impact resistance, and optical performance. - Customized packaging design
To meet the transportation needs of extra-large glass, we used specially designed plywood crates to secure and cushion the glass during transit, effectively preventing vibration and compression damage, thereby enhancing overall safety and ensuring products arrived intact. - Professional transportation coordination
We employed 40GP container sea freight combined with training for handling personnel and detailed loading/unloading procedures to ensure efficient, safe, and smooth delivery of the glass.
Project Results and Customer Feedback
The project has now entered the installation phase. Photos shared by the customer show meticulous handling and professional procedures during on-site glass installation, reflecting efficient collaboration among all parties involved.
Although the overall partition completion is not yet fully presented, installation is progressing steadily. VSOM GLASS remains confident in the final outcome and will continue to provide ongoing support to the client.
