Project Background

VSOM GLASS recently completed a custom export project of clear float glass, supplying a European distributor client with glass products for their fish tank production. The client serves the local fish tank market and has strict requirements for glass transparency, dimensional accuracy, and surface quality. They sought a stable and reliable supply to meet their production and sales needs.

Client Requirements

The client’s fish tanks are intended for the retail market, requiring high standards for glass appearance and transparency. The glass must endure long-term water pressure and temperature variations, necessitating sufficient flatness and uniform thickness to ensure structural stability and safety.

Additionally, the client sought to minimize loss during transportation and installation, emphasizing protective packaging and cleanliness before shipment.

VSOM GLASS Solutions

To meet the client’s production needs, VSOM GLASS provided clear float glass in two thickness specifications (4mm and 6mm) and strictly controlled each step of production and shipment to ensure the products could be used immediately upon arrival in Europe.

Custom Clear Float Glass

1. Material Selection and Quality Control

All clear float glass came from a stable production line, providing high transparency and excellent flatness. Each batch underwent optical inspection and thickness sampling to ensure consistency in subsequent processing.

2. Precision Cutting and Edge Processing

Based on the client’s fish tank design dimensions, we precisely cut the glass and performed fine grinding and chamfering to ensure smooth, chip-free edges for easy assembly and bonding. Cutting was performed using CNC equipment, maintaining dimensional tolerance within ±0.5mm.

3. Surface Inspection and Cleaning

Before packaging, each piece of glass underwent visual inspection and surface dust removal. Inspection standards included transparency, surface cleanliness, and edge integrity, ensuring the client could use the glass in fish tank assembly without additional cleaning or adjustments.

4. Packaging and Protection

To withstand long-distance sea transport, the products were packed in reinforced wooden crates. Glass panels were arranged vertically and secured by the sturdy crate structure, preventing movement and collisions during transport and ensuring safe delivery.

5. Export and Delivery

The products were shipped via full-container sea transport to a European port. VSOM GLASS oversaw the container loading and documentation throughout the process, ensuring the client could clear customs and receive the shipment smoothly.

Project Outcome

Upon arrival, the client provided positive feedback regarding the glass transparency, dimensional accuracy, and packaging protection. The glass was successfully used in fish tank production, with clear appearance and well-fitting edges, meeting their requirements for visual quality and assembly stability.

This project further demonstrated VSOM GLASS’s execution capability and quality control in the production and export of clear float glass.
