Client Requirements
Our client is a publicly listed lock distributor based in Europe, specializing in the production and sale of locks. Due to the confidentiality of the project, we are unable to disclose the exact application. However, the client’s requirements for the glass were very specific, with a primary focus on tempered laminated glass solutions. These included:
- 8mm Clear Tempered Glass: The client required tempered glass with high strength, excellent transparency, and safety features.
- 6.04mm SGP Interlayer: Used to enhance the glass’s stability and impact resistance.
- 8mm Clear Heat-Strengthened Glass: The client requested heat-strengthened glass with a certain level of strength, but not as high as fully tempered glass.
- Edge Grinding: All glass pieces were required to have precise edge grinding to ensure smooth edges, without burrs, for safety and aesthetic purposes.
Our Solution
In response to the client’s needs, we developed a comprehensive custom solution to ensure every requirement was met:
- Combination of Tempered and Heat-StrengthenedClear Glass: To meet the client’s need for both strength and aesthetic appeal, we combined 8mm clear tempered glass and 8mm clear heat-strengthened glass. The tempered glass is produced through a process in which it is heated to near its softening point and then rapidly cooled, creating uniform compressive stress that greatly enhances its impact resistance and bending strength. The heat-strengthened glass, on the other hand, is heated to a temperature slightly below its melting point and then cooled, improving its durability and bending strength, making it suitable for areas with lower strength requirements. The combination of both ensures the required strength while meeting the needs of different applications.
- Use of SGP Interlayer:We used a 6.04mm SGP interlayer between the glass layers, bonded through a high-temperature lamination process. This enhances the glass’s impact resistance and ensures safety by preventing shards in case of breakage.
- Precision Edge Grinding: The client required all glass to undergo precise edge grinding to ensure smooth, burr-free edges. Using advanced machining techniques, we ensured that each glass piece met the highest standards of quality and safety.
Shipping and Delivery
To ensure timely delivery and the safety of the glass during transport, we shipped all custom glass, consisting of 8mm clear tempered glass + 6.04mm SGP interlayer + 8mm clear heat-strengthened glass, to Europe via sea freight. Throughout the logistics process, we maintained close communication with the client to ensure that each batch of products arrived on time and in perfect condition.
