This collaboration came from a long-term client in the furniture and construction industry, marking our second cooperation. The project initially confirmed the use of Low-E insulating glass for window systems, and as the project progressed, the client subsequently added requirements for tempered glass and float glass. Based on the continuously changing procurement content, we reorganized the glass types, production schedule, and delivery plan, ultimately forming an integrated glass solution that covers the needs of both window and furniture projects.
Project Requirements and Glass Configuration
In this project, the client’s glass was mainly intended for two purposes:
- Window systems, with specific requirements for thermal insulation performance and stability;
- Furniture-related applications, requiring compatibility with different structures and processing methods to ensure product quality and safety.
Based on these requirements, three types of glass were involved in the project:
- Low-E insulating glass, for window systems.
- Tempered glass, for furniture and related structural components.
- Float glass, for basic applications in the project.
The three types of glass differed in purpose, processing methods, and packaging requirements, which made it necessary to advance this cooperation as an “integrated solution” rather than separate independent supply of each product.
Order Progress
The project was not completed with a single order.
At the initial stage, the client only confirmed the procurement quantity for Low-E insulating glass. As the project details became clearer, the client placed two additional orders, first adding tempered glass and then float glass.
The three additional orders occurred within the same project cycle, imposing higher requirements on production scheduling, quantity calculations, and final delivery arrangements. To avoid the risks and costs associated with multiple shipments, we consolidated all three types of glass after confirming the full order content.
Adjustment of Delivery Plan
During the logistics planning stage, the client originally intended to use a 20OT container for delivery. However, after consolidating all glass quantities and calculating the packaging volume, this plan could no longer meet the actual loading requirements. At the same time, the client’s originally arranged freight forwarder faced practical limitations in pick-up and shipment operations.
After thorough communication, we recommended the client switch to a 40HQ container for delivery and simultaneously replanned the loading scheme. This adjustment ensured that all three types of glass could be shipped in a single batch and avoided the uncertainties of split shipments.
Packaging and Transportation Safeguards
Considering the variety and different specifications of the glass, this project employed reinforced wooden racks and wooden frame packaging.
Through reasonable partitioning and securing, the stability of the shipment was effectively improved, reducing the risk to the glass during long-distance transport.
Project Outcome
Ultimately, the project was delivered in 1 × 40HQ container. Low-E insulating glass, tempered glass, and float glass were consolidated into a single shipment and delivered according to the planned packaging scheme, meeting the client’s supply requirements for window and furniture projects.
For us, this was not only a centralized supply of multiple glass products but also a process of coordinating and implementing the overall solution under continuously adjusted order content, delivery method, and packaging details. Through coordination and execution across all stages, the project was completed smoothly and laid a stable foundation for future cooperation.
Conclusion
This collaboration also allowed VSOM GLASS to gain more experience in supplying multiple types of glass simultaneously and validated the importance of flexible adjustments and close coordination at each stage, providing reference for similar future orders.
